MAGARÌA

Return to Capri - Come back to yourself on the Syren's island, through Art and Yoga
June 7-10, 2024

For all of us, there was a time, a place, a person, maybe just a day, in which we felt connected with something deep within us, something that comes before the superstructures of society, before education, before the masks that we wear to face everyday challenges. This is the purpose of the first edition of Magarìa (Magic in Neapolitan), a yoga, acting, and traditional dance retreat in Capri, where you will journey to discover yourself and the island, together with Kindra Calonia, Margherita Laterza and Giulia Pesole.

Capri and acting have always represented this for Margherita: the possibility of finding herself, her true voice, of getting back in touch with her inner child. For Kindra the medium was yoga, which brought her closer to the spirituality of her homeland, the Philippines. For Giulia, it was dance and in particular the traditional dance of southern Italy, which allowed her to "return" home after moving to Paris.

Yoga, dance, and acting, are the paths we will use to discover ourselves and the island: this will be what our days will be made of. Inspired by a place that has always welcomed all those who were fleeing from something (wars, persecution, discrimination) to find themselves in a free territory. “The Dream is an Island”, is the title of a book about Capri, and if experienced as a ritual, says Norman Douglas, Capri transforms you. Therefore our days will also be made up of nourishing home-cooked meals, rituals, ceremonies, dance, yoga, acting, and magical walks and excursions through the island of Capri.

We will ask you to bring an object linked to your origins, not necessarily territorial, but rather spiritual: something that for you is linked to that moment in which you truly felt like yourself* Starting from that "amulet" we will weave together the thread of our original stories.

The place will be a historic villa in Capri, which also has a particular history: it was built in 1935 by a Jewess fleeing from Nazi Germany, Margherita's aunt-in-law, from whom she takes her name: Marguerete Bielshowsky.

Five rooms around an internal patio where we can share our stories, outside a large garden with a swimming pool, a view of the gulf, and the flavor of an ancient residence.
